Is Streaming Killing Off Live Attendance At Short Tracks? Examining That Question With Paul Arute

On June 2 Stafford Speedway management posted an interesting graphic to their social media platforms.

“Most Watched Friday Night Ever” read the graphic with the caption reading: “A record-breaking streaming night!! Thanks to EVERYONE for tuning in to FloRacing and making AZ Roofing Kid’s Night our most-streamed Friday event of all time.”

The graphic was showcasing the streaming record for the track’s Friday May 30 event at the track. What wasn’t mentioned though is that attendance at the track that night was fairly minimal.

It shines a light on a concern many around short track racing are beginning to raise on a regular basis. Is the proliferation of streaming of short track racing events killing off live attendance at tracks?

We talked recently with Stafford Speedway chief operating officer Paul Arute about the state of streaming in short track racing.
