The NASCAR Modified Tour returns to Thompson Speedway for the running of the Thompson 150 on Wednesday Aug. 6. The series will celebrate its 750th event all-time next week at Thompson and a legend of Modified racing will be in the house at Thompson to help celebrate that milestone.
Geoff Bodine will be at Thompson Speedway Wednesday along with the Big Red Machine No. 1 Modified that he drove to 55 feature wins in 1978. Bodine will get back behind the wheel of the Big Red Machine to pace the NASCAR Modified Tour field at Thompson.
“I’m actually going to drive it,” Bodine told RaceDayCT. “I’m going to pace the field at the start of the Modified race. Boy, I don’t know if I know how to do that anymore. I’ll have to get some lessons from somebody.”
We caught up with Bodine this afternoon to talk about how it all came together to make his return to Thompson Speedway and much more.
