STAFFORD – Last Friday at Stafford Speedway SK Light Modified veteran Nick Anglace marveled at his achievement of getting three consecutive podium finishes.

Friday Anglace just kept that streak going and did it stunning style.

Anglace, of Seymour, made a furious blast from fourth to the lead over three laps and then held off Robert Bloxsom III on a green-white-checkered finish to win the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature.

It was the second victory of the season for Anglace, who got his first win on July 25. He followed that with a third place on Aug. 1.

“I’m kind of speechless,” Anglace said. “I figured we’d have a good run, but coming from 15th, you never know these races are going to go. Just a really strong car and just everything went our way. … This our fourth podium in a row. I said last week that I never had three in a row. And I think this is a pretty cool way to get four in a row.”

Bloxsom, of Milford, was second and Chris Matthews of Stafford third.

Things got ugly early for Nickolas Hovey, the division’s points leader coming into the event. Hovey got pinched into the backstretch wall by Ron Midford on lap five, sending Hovey riding up on the wall. It set off a multi-car pileup that also collected Meghan Fuller, who came into the night second in the standings, two points behind Hovey.

“[Midford] is just clueless,” Hovey said. “He doesn’t know where he’s at on the track or doesn’t know what’s around him. Sucks, I had a great car two weeks in a row and got taken out by someone else’s misfortune.”

On lap 13 Anglace went by Sami Anderson for third. The next lap Anglace rocketed by Stephen Kalogiannis for second. And on lap 15 Anglace made easy work of getting by Bloxsom for the lead.

Anglace was checked out from Bloxsom and coming to the checkered flag, but the spinning car of Austin Goff on the frontstretch brough the caution as Anglace came through turn four headed to the checkered flag.

Bloxsom gave Anglace a challenge on the first lap of the green-white-checkered finish, but Anglace was able to pull away on the final lap.

“When the caution came out, I mean, I’m coming out of [turn] four and I see the checkered flag and I’m like ‘Are you kidding me?’” Anglace said. “Just my luck. Just glad that we could get it done. I felt like that we’ve been able to compete at this level for a very long time and we just hadn’t been getting the results. It’s here now. Just gotta ride the wave while it’s here.”
