Stafford Speedway management has lifted the indefinite suspension of driver George Bessette Jr. and the former track champion is expected to make his return to competition at the half-mile on Friday.
Although he had not officially entered the event as of 12:45 pm on Thursday, Bessette announced on Facebook Thursday that he would make his return to the track for the Lincoln Tech Open Modified 80 at Stafford on Friday.
On Facebook Bessette posted: “The phone call everyone’s been waiting for … We’re BACK this Friday at Stafford Speedway for the Lincoln Tech Open Modified 80!”
Bessette was suspended indefinitely at Stafford for his actions following an SK Modified feature on Sept. 27, 2024.
Bessette was the 2018 Street Stock champion at Stafford and has 10 wins in the division. He won the 2023 SK Light Modified championship and has nine wins in that division.
Bessette ran part-time in the SK Modified division at Stafford in 2024 before being suspended.
Bessette has made five starts this season on the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series and has two top-five finishes and four top-10’s. Bessette was involved in an on-track issue with Woody Pitkat late in the most recent Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series event on Aug. 2 at Star Speedway. Bessette and Pitkat were both parked by series officials for aggressive behavior on the track.
