Woody Pitkat Wins Pole For Whelen Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 125 At Thompson Speedway

THOMPSON – Since the start of the 2014 season, Woody Pitkat has seemingly been on the verge breaking through to victory lane in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour action at Thompson Speedway.

Pitkat, of Stafford, has finished second in two of the last four Whelen Modified Tour events at Thompson.

Wednesday Pitkat will start from the place he’s looking to finish.

Pitkat won the pole in qualifying for the Whelen Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 125 Wednesday at Thompson.

Pitkat toured the .625-mile oval in 18.854 seconds (119.338 mph).

It was the third career Whelen Modified Tour pole for Pitkat. All three have come at Thompson over the last five events.

Doug Coby of Milford, the winner of the season opening Icebreaker 150 at Thompson Speedway on April 12, was second fastest at 18.889 seconds (119.117 mph).

Keith Rocco of Wallingford was third fastest in qualifying at 18.952 seconds (118.721 mph).

Series part-timer Corey LaJoie of Concord, N.C. was fourth fastest (18.955 seconds, 118.702 mph) and Timmy Solomito of Islip, N.Y. was fifth fastest (18.961 seconds, 118.655 mph).

Series rookie Troy Talman of Oxford Mass. was sixth and Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y. seventh. Eric Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y., Chase Dowling of Roxbury and Ted Christopher of Plainville rounding out the top-10 respectively.
