WATERFORD – A baby’s delivery will also deliver to fans a special appearance in the SK Modified division Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

Seven-time New London-Waterford Speedbowl SK Modified division champion Dennis Gada will make a one-race return to the division’s lineup for tonight’s 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature.

Gada, of Salem, was called into service just before the start of feature racing at the track after his son Joey Gada had to leave the track with his girlfriend Kaitlyn Brice, who went into labor.

Dennis Gada won the last of his championships in 2008 at Waterford. He last ran competitively at the track in 2009. He is second all-time at the track in wins in the SK Modified division with 62.

Dennis Gada said he started some races in 2011 for his son, but ran at the back of the field.

Ten minutes before opening ceremonies Saturday Dennis Gada was filling out a driver registration form.

“We put the tires on it from last week and we’ll save the new tires for him for next week,” Dennis Gada said. “We’ll see how it goes. I’ll probably play it safe for the first half and see what goes down and race it in the second half.”

Joey Gada came into the evening fourth in the extremely tight SK Modified standings, six points behind division leader Diego Monahan.
