Advance Ticket Sales to Begin Tuesday, September 15
Track and series officials have announced the schedule of events for the 58th World Series of Speedway Racing at Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.
The annual auto racing festival once again has three days of racing from Friday, October 9 to Sunday, October 11 with 18 divisions on the program.
The action kicks off Friday, October 9 with rotating practice beginning 11:00am. All World Series divisions except the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour are allowed to participate. A five-division Friday night card goes green at 5:00pm that includes the Thompson Mini Stocks, an 8-cylinder Street Stock Open, the Senior Tour Auto Racers Modifeds and Late Models, and an Open Vintage Modified feature.
Saturday, October 10 will be the busiest day of racing at the World Series. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour has practice and qualifying for their annual World Series 150. Twelve other divisions have heat races that afternoon beginning at approximately 2:00pm. Following NASCAR Modified time trials are main events for the Tour-type Modified Open, ACT-type Late Model Open, 350 Supermodifieds, EXIT Realty Pro Truck Series, North East Mini Stock Tour, NEMA Midgets, and Pro 4 Modifieds.
The festival wraps up Sunday, October 11. The first green flag flies at 12:30pm when the Sunoco Modified feature rolls onto the track. Main events for the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models, Limited Sportsmen, NEMA Lites, and SK Light Modifieds are also on Sunday. The World Series concludes with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 150-lap event.
Advance tickets for the 58th World Series of Speedway Racing go on sale Tuesday, September 15 at https://happsnow.com/event/Thompson-Speedway-Motorsports-Park-YHPQ(link is external). A three-day general admission pass is $55 for adults and $15 for kids ages 12 and under. Grandstand attendance is limited to 25% of capacity per state requirements. Pit admission is $75 per person for a three-day pass.

Are the race tracks exempt from the new fines for large gatherings, that the governor is implementing?
Nothing has really changed. The fines are designed to give local officials authority to enforce rules should they wish to do so at the request of local officials. It actually reduces the enforcement mechanism from a misdemeanor that has longer term consequences to an infraction.
Racing is a certified and approved industry in Connecticut in only one industry of many approved. Using a specific safety protocol action plan that has been very successful clearly based on the results.
One would think this is not an audience sympathetic to structured rules involving behavior restrictions and especially those coming from a Democratic Governor. However if you take the time to listen to the guy in his update yesterday.what you may conclude if you’re being fair its coming from a guy pretty well on top of the situation, keeping is eye on trends, doing his best to open up as much as practically possible without spiking the numbers in the process.

If you can be fair you may appreciate the fact that Connecticut was the first state to open up racing in an economically sustainable manner for a state that had a staggering infection and death rate. Furthermore it was done on a timely basis in the shadow of what we had just gone through knowing how critical the season was to the industry.
Lamont says the next couple months will be a critical time with the flu season kicking off and schools opening. Things can change fast and nothing is guaranteed including the October racing events in Connecticut. However for now there’s no need to manufacture controversy based on an incorrect interpretation of what happened yesterday from any political partisan itching to make something out of nothing.
Is the reference to “festival” new. If it is it’s perfect. It is a festival. A sensory bombardment of racing, a one of a kind in regional racing extravaganza saved in the most unlikeliest of times by the most unlikely organizers.
MRS out and an open in. Is that another nail I hear being hammered or the last shoe? Rules? TTOMS or Stafford type? Specs? Weight?
The schedule is definitely a bit different this year. But hey it’s 2020. A little surprised that there is no actual ACT tour race or the Granite state pro stocks, or the MRS. Not surprised about ISMA. We ought to thank whoever is making the decisions in our state. To be able to attend any kind of racing events this year is a small miracle.
I think it’s fantastic that this race is happening. Too bad the ISMA supers won’t be there, but I’m interested in seeing the small block supers run. They put on some real good racing at Star with good car counts. I’m also looking forward to the “Open” race; hoping it will be more like the Stafford events that allow a tire change.
2020, I’m sure the GSPSS was not signed up due the PASS race. Most of the PASS events I’ve seen at Seekonk & Thompson have some of the same GSPSS racers along with a good field of PASS regulars. Good stuff! I would suspect there will be a good payout for PASS and the LM races, so both fields should be good. The LM race at the Thompson WMT was the best race of the “weekly racers” for sure!
ISMA will be at Star this Saturday but I think they are close to sold out. They are leaving 250 tickets for the walk up crowd. GSPSS is on Friday night. MRS on Sunday. Big weekend for Star.

I am kind of surprised there wasnt an ACT race with the owner of ACT part of the promotion team. It looks like a great weekend of racing.
csg, I’d bet the LM race will be pretty much a non-points ACT race. 50 laps instead of the usual 25, and Thompson has been using ACT rules for a few years at least. Seekonk, the Speedbowl, and I think Star have also been using ACT rules as well. With 20 cars at Thompson last time, they might even need a consi on World Series weekend. I believe they when the ACT was officially part of Saturday last year.
the ACT late model tour schedule was already finalized before this group took over promoting Thompson.
Pit passes available on friday World Series Weekend???
Will tickets be available at the track because I just checked on line for the tickets and they are adding a convenience fee of $ 13.00 and a processing fee of $ 3.99 to the tickets price that a big jump .

As I understand it, grandstand tickets will only be available at the track if they don’t sell out in advance. Considering Connecticut tracks are still limited to 25% of capacity and that it’s the World Series, I’d say gambling on getting tickets at the gate is an “at your own risk” decision.
