STAFFORD – Alexander Pearl is answering a bad streak with a good streak.

Last week at Stafford Speedway Pearl put three consecutive miserable weeks behind him in perfect fashion by getting back to victory lane in the SK Light Modified division.

Friday the Salem driver made it two in a row.

Pearl drove away from the field in the closing laps to win the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature for the second consecutive week at Stafford.

“We had a a really good car. Just starting back in the pack I had to make my way to the front,” Pearl said. “Halfway through we were up to fourth. I knew we had a really good car. I knew we had a good chance at finishing on the podium. I didn’t know if we had the car to win. But I’m really thankful. Two weeks in a row. This feels awesome.”

It was the fourth victory of the season for Pearl.

Peter Bennett of Cromwell was second and Derek Debbis of Oakdale third.

Pearl went from fourth to second on a lap 11 restart and quickly got to the bumper of Bennett out front. Pearl was able to squeeze under Bennett for the lead on lap 14 and went unchallenged out front the rest of the way.

Division points leader Brian Sullivan was fifth, allowing Pearl to cut his lead from 16 points to eight points with two events remaining.

“Still a lot can happen in two races,” Pearl said. “I’ll just keep doing my thing. Hopefully we can win three in a row, four in a row hopefully and just keep the momentum rolling.”

  1. This was kind of an exclamation point on what I think is inevitable. The championship.
Otherwise a breakout race for rookie Peter Bennett. With so many rookies with great cars it’s tough to get any recognition. He’s been grinding away all year and it finally paid off.
