Highlight Moment: Eric Goodale Wins Pole For Whelen Modified Tour NAPA 150 At Stafford Speedway

STAFFORD – There hasn’t been all that much to celebrate for Eric Goodale this year when it comes to action on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. 

A ninth place finish at the third race of the season at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, N.H. represents the only appearance in the top-10 of a series event this year for the Riverhead, N.Y. driver. 

Saturday at Stafford Speedway Goodale found something to celebrate before the field even took the green flag for Whelen Modified Tour NAPA Auto Parts 150. 

Goodale won the pole in qualifying for Saturday’s first and only series event this year at Stafford Speedway. 

Goodale toured the half-mile oval with a fast lap of 18.779 seconds in qualifying. 

It was the third career series pole for Goodale, and his first since 2016. Goodale, who has three victories in 173 career series starts, is looking for his first win since 2017. 

Ron Silk of Norwalk, who topped the competition in practice, was second in qualifying at 18.836 seconds. 

Reigning series champion Doug Coby of Milford was third in qualifying at 18.903 seconds. 

Series points leader Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y. (18.915 seconds) and Anthony Nocella of Woburn, Mass. (18.915 seconds)  matched times in qualifying to round out the top five. 

Jon McKennedy, Chase Dowling, Max McLaughin, Dave Sapienza and Craig Lutz rounded out the top-10 in qualifying respectively. McLaughlin, the son of former Whelen Modified Tour champion Mike McLaughlin, is making his series debut.
