The 2014 Valenti Modified Racing Series will open once again as part of the Blastoff weekend at the Waterford Speedbowl  March 29-30. The series will make a return trip to Waterford Aug. 9.

The division will run three events at Stafford Motor Speedway next year, with visits to the track scheduled for June 20, July 18 and Aug. 29.

Two events will be held at Thompson Speedway. The first will take place on May 29 and the second will be the division’s season finale on Oct. 18 as part of Thompson’s World Series weekend.

The only new addition to the schedule was an event scheduled for Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Sept. 5-6.

  1. glad to see there growing and it seems as though they are gaining WMT teams this year.. all in due time they will take over as the DOMINANT modified tour in the northeast.

  2. Seems like the original 2013 schedule had more races?

  3. Looks good to me.

Growing? Yes, the addition of Airborne is great ( ROC combo) – but they lost (for different reasons) Canaan, Oxford, and Beech Ridge (for this year). Let’s hope if they ever do take over the DOMINANT modified tour, the tracks will pay them the purse they deserve being such. Does anyone know exactly what the payout is for a VMRS race? How much do the teams actually make?

I believe they had 19 races last year. But they had a few rain outs and could not fit in a schedule make up. And they only ran 16 races.

From what I remember from one of Shawn’s old post is that Oxford did not want them back. I think they are more of a late model track. They only had 21 cars start at the track this year. Canaan closed witch is sad to hear. And Beech Ridge was every other year. I’m sure they would be happy to have more races and if any other track wishes to have them I’m sure Shawn will let us all know.

But 16 events is a good year. Considering that the WMT will only be 12 races this year. lol (Just guessing but it’s looking to be like a real fact. XD)

    Thanks you.

  7. After there half speed performance at beech ridge this year don’t think many will miss them at the ridge. Beech ridge love modified racing but not when there streer stock class run the same times as the mods did for over half their race there this year

Apparently half speed performance & race fixing is ok with the folks at Lee, because the MRS will be going back for two “shows” if you can call what the MRS does a “show”.
