Stafford Notes: Nickolas Hovey Stays Hot In SK Light Mod; Adrien Paradis III Gets First Limited Late Model Win 

On May 31 Nickolas Hovey scored his first points paying victory in the SK Light Modified division at Stafford Speedway. 

Friday the Chaplin driver wasted no time in adding to his win column. 

After multiple weeks of rainouts, Hovey was able to make it two consecutive victories in winning the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature Friday at Stafford. 

“We really had to earn this one,” Hovey said. “We were starting with all the great guys back there. We just had a phenomenal car.” 

Bob Charland of Stafford was second and Alexander Pearl of Salem third. 

Adrien Paradis III crossed the finish line second in the Limited Late Model feature, but found himself celebrating in victory lane after the dust settled. 

Paradis was awarded victory in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature after Rich Hamman was penalized for over-aggressive driving on the final lap. 

It was the first career victory in the division for Paradis, of Plainville. He became the seventh different winner in the division in seven events this year. 

Devon Jencik of Canton, Mass. was second and Kyle Theriault of Three Rivers, Mass. third. 

Second place running Hammann got under Paradis through turn three on the final lap. Hammann hit Paradis twice in the left rear through turn four and onto the frontstretch, The pair leaned on each other to the checkered with Hamman edging Paradis at the line and sliding sideways and into the wall just after the checkered flag. 

Hammann went to victory lane but after a brief delay officials waved him back to the pits. Hammann was credited with a 14th place finish. 

Travis Hydar of Woodbury recovered from two consecutive bad events to score his fourth victory of the season in the 20-lap Street Stock feature.

“We’ve definitely had some bad luck the [couple races],” Hydar said,. “… After a week off because of the rain I wanted to make sure we came back and made a statement that we’ve still got it.”

The win extended Hydar’s all-time record for victories in the divison to 23.

Travis Downey of Barkhamstead was second and Jeff Asselin of Granby, Mass. was third.
