STAFFORD – Adam Gray spent the last two weeks watching Late Model victory lane celebrations from Stafford Speedway on his TV at home.

Friday, the Belchertown, Mass. driver went from watching to celebrating.

After missing the last three weeks of competition, the four-time Late Model champion returned to action Friday and quickly returned to a place very familiar to him

Gray topped the 30-lap Late Model feature for his victory of the 2024 season.

“We had a good piece tonight.” Gray said. “This season has been a little rough. Friday nights, spent a couple watching on TV at home, drinking beer and watching Flo. Tonight we did it. My crew has got no quit in them.”

It was the 34th career Late Model victory at Stafford for Gray.

Tom Fearn of East Longmeadow, Mass. was second for his first podium finish of the season. Paul Varricchio Jr. of Berlin was third.

“I’ve got to thank my guys.” Fearn said. “We’ve been digging hard all year. Every week it’s been getting better and better. It’s just a whole new deal for us. [Gray] stole the show tonight so congratulations to him.”

Said Varricchio: “Good run. Awesome night. … Just hard racing. It’s nice to see Adam Gray back in victory [lane]. Back here, car is good. Nice to see that.”

Alexandra Fearn went past P.J. Zarella for the lead at the start. The first caution flew on lap six with Alexandra Fearn leading, Zarella in second and Tom Fearn in third.

On the restart Alexandra Fearn held the top spot with Tom Fearn moving past Zarella for second.

By lap 11 Alexandra Fearn and Tom Fearn had checked out from third place Adam Gray. On lap 12 Tom Fearn found the rear bumper of Alexandra Fearn.

On lap 17 Tom Fearn found the lane under Alexandra Fearn through turns one and two with the pair coming to the line side-by-side. On lap 18 Tom Fearn cleared Alexandra Fearn for the lead through turns one and two.

On lap 20 Gray got to the inside of Alexandra Fearn and passed her for second a lap later. By lap 24 Gray was all over the bumper of Tom Fearn at the front.

Gray gave Tom Fearn a nudge in the left rear in turn four on lap 24, but Tom Fearn fended off the challenge. Gray used the same move again on lap 25, which gave him a run down the frontstretch. Gray found the lane under Tom Fearn into turn one on lap 26 and went unchallenged at the front the rest of the way.
