Jon Puleo of Branford dominated from start to finish to win the 50-lap Sunoco 604 Modified feature.
It was the third victory for Puleo in four events for this division at Thompson this season.
Twice during the event Keith Rocco got to second and closed on Puleo, but Rocco never got close enough to challenge for the lead.
“Anytime you see [Rocco] in your mirror you’re going 100 percent,” Puleo said. “He’s the best in the business here. I’ve been watching him my whole life. To be able to say you beat [Rocco], where it was two cars of 500, it’s a win in my book. Awesome job to all my guys.”
Rocco, of Wallingford, was second.
“We kept having to pass the same cars over and over and again,” Rocco said. “I’d pass them, have a restart and they’d get back by us. With these crate motors, you get stuck on the bottom you might as well just go all the way to the back because there’s no running down there.”
Isaiah Newcomb of Plymouth, Mass., who won the division’s last event, was third in the eight car field.
Tyler Chapman of Ellington topped the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature. Nick Hovey of Chaplin was second and Meghan Fuller of Auburn, Mass. third.
Brian Tagg of Oxford, Mass. topped the 25-lap Late Model feature. Nick Johnson of Rehoboth, Mass. second and Derek Gluchacki of North Dartmouth, Mass. third.
Jared Roy of Sterling won the 15-lap Mini Stock feature. Ryan Pomposelli of Smithfield, R.I. was second and Kevin Moore of Moosup third.
