Ashton Young, a short track racer from Griswold, was arrested Monday by State Police in Montville.

The 20-year old Young surrendered to State Police at Troop E in Montville just before 8 pm Monday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Young was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of second-degree sexual assault. Young posted a $100,000 bond and was released.

Young is scheduled to appear on Jan. 6, 2025 in Rockville Superior Court for arraignment proceedings.

Attempts to reach Young were unsuccessful.

The warrant for Young’s arrest stemmed from a sexual assault investigation that had been reported in August of this year.

According to the arrest warrant, Young allegedly had sexual contact with the 15-year old unnamed female victim on Aug. 8, 2024 and Aug. 11, 2024 in Ellington. Young has been ordered by State Police not to have any further contact with the victim.

Young was the Rookie of the Year in the Street Stock division at Stafford Speedway in 2024.

Young made 20 starts in the Street Stock division at Stafford in 2024, recording three top-10 finishes. He finished the season 13th in the division’s standings.

On his Facebook page Young lists his occupation as a race car driver for Young Money Motorsports. Last month Young announced that the team would expand to having two cars competing at Stafford Speedway for the 2025 season.
