The new surroundings at RFK Racing are bringing Ryan Preece to some new milestones in his NASCAR Cup Series career.

Preece finished seventh in Sunday’s Cup Series Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway.

It marked the first time in Preece’s Cup Series career that he has recorded three consecutive top-10 finishes.

“I didn’t expect that one,” Preece said of his career-best third consecutive top-10 finish. “Honestly, it all started with me messing up in qualifying and putting us back there. Ultimately, we got some great stage points, some great calls, and great adjustments on the box, and we got this Fastenal Ford Mustang where it needed to be.”

Preece ran full-time for JTG Daugherty Racing in the Cup Series from 2019 to 2021. He ran full-time with Stewart-Haas Racing in 2023 and 2024. He made the move to RFK Racing before the start of this season.

Preece finished third in the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 16. He was ninth in the Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 23.

Last week marked just the second time in Preece’s career that he had consecutive top-10 finishes in the Cup Series. He also accomplished the feat in 2021, finishing sixth in the Daytona 500 and ninth in the Daytona Road Course event in the second race of the season.

  1. Suitcase Jake says

Excellent news… Keep it rolling …We knew Ryan had the Talent but His chances were real slim until RFK came calling…For a BRAND NEW TEAM this is really very promising for US , Ryans longtime fans… He is finally in equipment that He can be competitive in , He can show the rest of the Country what all the hype was, busting off Wins in the Xfinity Series in top notch equipment for Joe Gibbs Racing . This 3rd shot with RFK really was probably His last shot at a fulltime ride in CUP… I am so happy that 3 top 10’s in a row is in the books now and the team can continue to gain confidence & start getting top 5’s with a Win this year…. He can get in the playoffs and make a good showing ..Keep it Rolling !!!! This is great motivation to watch CUP Racing more than the last few seasons… I know my viewing has gone way up last 2 years ….Good Luck Ryan & RFK !!! Keep the ball rolling every week..!!!!

  2. Awsome Job Ryan!!!!

  3. And TEAM!! THEY ARE JELLIN”

  4. AMEN BROTHER!!! I TOTALLY AGREE!!!

  5. You know, I thought his streak would end today, judging by the first 2 stages. Stayed out while others pitted stage 1, to get some stage points, but then started back of the pack due to that strategy after pitting. He stayed mired in the 20’s till stage 3, and kept gaining on it up to 7 th, and held that position for about 50 laps till the end. Highest finishing ford, and I think this year he has a bonafide crew chief and team, made some good calls.
So sure, its early and a long season. But surely his best start in a cup car. I’m with ya Suitcase, be consistent, keep it going. Good luck 60 team!
