STAFFORD – On April 27 Matt Clement began defense of his 2024 Limited Late Model championship at Stafford Speedway by scoring victory in the opening event of the season.
Friday the Wethersfield driver showed he doesn’t plan on stepping away from his throne anytime soon.
Clement drove to victory in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature Friday at Stafford Speedway.
“We had a great car in traffic,” Clement said. “Took advantage of some mistakes on other people’s part and kept it clean and here we are.”
It was the 21st career victory in the division for Clement.
Matthew Winter III of Springfield, VT. was second and Devon Jencik of Canton was third.
Clement passed Winter for the lead with five laps remaining.
“I was waiting for [Winter] to make a mistake,” Clement said. “He kept getting a little squirrelly coming off, he’d push and then he’d get real loose. Him and Devon [Jencik], I think they both clipped the fence every single lap coming off of [turn] four. It was a light show. They were putting on a show. Then the caution came out and I said, ‘Sorry guys, this is my show.’”
