Despite forecasts for rain in the area on Saturday, NASCAR officials are optimistic about running the NASCAR Modified Tour Miller Lite Salutes Steve Park 200 at Riverhead Raceway.
NASCAR communicated their concerns and plans to competitors on Friday.
A message to teams read:
Riverhead Raceway management and NASCAR have been monitoring the weather and working together to make the best decision possible on this weekend and the forecast for everyone involved. With that being said, currently, the forecast models are trending showing the rain pushing out mid-afternoon tomorrow (Saturday).
We are going to move forward and make every attempt to get this event in as scheduled.
Due to the forecast with rain in the morning and early afternoon, we are going to adjust the schedule and delay opening approximately two (2) hours. Once an updated schedule is drafted, I will forward it to you.
So, in summary, we are moving forward to get the event in as scheduled tomorrow, Saturday, June 14th.
Thank you for your patience.
A Facebook post from Riverhead Raceway read:
We will be making a 100% effort to run this event, as scheduled, on Saturday evening June 14th, 2025.
We know that there will be weather in the morning and early afternoon, but the evening shows promise and we will be putting in every effort possible to complete the event on Saturday night and we hope to see you there!
