Cemented Legacy: Matt Hirschman Tops Monaco Mod Tri-Track Midweek Madness 125 At Seekonk

The legacy statistics run deep for Matt Hirschman when it comes to the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series. 

One of those marquee statistics is that Hirschman has won at least one event on the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series every year since the division began in 2014. 

On Wednesday at Seekonk Speedway the Northampton, Pa. drivers made sure that streak continued. 

Hirschman took the lead on lap five and dominated the day to on the way to victory in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series Midweek Madness 125 Wednesday at Seekonk Speedway. 

It marked the first series win of 2025 for Hirschman and the 12th consecutive season that he has has scored a victory on the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series. 

It was the 23rd victory overall in 58 Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series starts for Hirschman, and his seventh series win at Seekonk. Wednesday’s event marked the fifth of 10 for the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series this season. Hirschman missed the first three events of the season. 

Hirschman also won the NASCAR Modified Tour event at Seekonk on June 1. Hirschman’s hot streak at Seekonk dates back to his victory in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series season finale last November. The Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series once again closes its season at Seekonk in 2025 on Oct. 25. 

“Really strong performance,” said Hirschman, who won his ninth series title in 2024 “… Good night here. Obviously this place has been really good to me. We definitely have it figured out. But when you think you do it can bite you. So I’m not going to be overconfident the next time we come back, we’re looking to try to sweep them all here this year when we come back in October.” 

Jon McKennedy of Chelmsford, Mass. was second and George Bessette Jr. of Danbury was third. 

McKennedy held tight to the top of the point standings. Chris Pasteryak used a fifth place run to move from third to second in the standings, 28 behind McKennedy. Ronnie Williams’ seventh place finish vaulted him from seventh to third in the standings, 49 points off the lead.

Matt Swanson controlled at the front of the field at the start. 

On lap five Hirschman found the low lane under Swanson to move into the lead. 

The first caution flew on lap eight when ninth place running Austin Beers rode up the backstretch wall after contact from Eric Berndt. Beers ultimately collected 10th place Teddy Hodgdon IV, carrying the wreck into turn three. Berndt was penalized for the incident. 

On the lap eight restart Hirschman held on at the front with Craig Lutz moving past Swanson to second. 

Caution was back out for the spinning car of Kevin Folan on lap 16. Hirschman controlled at the front again on the lap 16 restart. 

On lap 31, with Hirschman checked out at the front, Bessette got under Lutz to move into second. 

Caution was back out on lap 42 after Mikey Flynn got turned around in turn one. Under caution fourth place Swanson, seventh place Stephen Kopcik and ninth place Woody Pitkat went to the pits. 

After a long delay, the race restarted with Hirschman once again controlling out front. Behind him Ronnie Williams made the jump to third on the restart. 

On lap 58, with Hirschman and Bessette getting away out front, McKennedy made a diving move under Williams to move into third. 

With Hirschman leading by nearly two seconds on lap 87, McKennedy got by Bessette to take over second place.

Caution flew for a Folan spin on lap 95. Under caution third place Bessette, fourth place Williams, fifth place Lutz and sixth place Chris Pasteryak were among a large group going to the pits. It moved Berndt to third, Kopcik to fourth and Swanson to fifth for the restart.

Hirschman controlled at the front on the restart. Behind the leaders Kopcik moved to third past Berndt with Swanson following to fourth.

On lap 106 Kopcik used the outside lane to snare second place from McKennedy. By the time Kopcik got to second Hirschman had opened a 1.2 second lead. 

With Hirschman out front by 1.2 seconds, caution flew on lap 122 for the spinning car of Berndt in turn two. 

On the lap 122 restart, Hirschman and Kopcik went side-by-side for two laps, but caution was back out on lap 123 after Lutz sent fourth place Swanson spinning in turn four. Lutz was penalized for the incident. 

While the field paced under caution, second place Kopcik suffered a flat left rear tire. It moved McKennedy to second, Joey Cipriano to third and Jacob Perry to fourth for the lap 123 restart. Hirschman easily pulled away over the closing laps.
