Yes, we heard you and we’re bringing the comments section back.
In June 2012 we launched the website RaceDayCT.
We launched with intent to allow our news website to be a place that was also a space for open dialogue for readers.
Since that time most news websites have since eliminated comments sections. The fact is, in today’s world nobody can really allow for an unmoderated comments section and moderating a comment section can be a time consuming endeavor.
And while most news websites dropped comments, we tried to keep it going for long after most had eliminated them. We also noticed that during the 2024 racing season, and in the offseason following, the comments section was getting almost unmanageable with amount of comments being posted that just weren’t going to be allowed.
We’ve also kept some pretty loose guardrails on the comments section and I guess over 12 years of allowing that it wasn’t surprised the tone started to turn. We decided in April to take a break from the comment section and see how things went.
But the resounding message we received was that readers wanted the comment section back. So today we’ve brought the comment section back to RaceDayCT.
We will continue to try to allow open dialogue with as little censorship as possible. Comments will still be moderated. As always, the rules for the comment will be simple. No threatening people, no vulgarity and try to be kind human beings.

So Shawn, I’ve missed the comments.
I learn a lot from other fans and experienced people, through the comment section, and appreciate that.
But I have to ask you. You sure you want to do this? I have an idea what hosting this comment section takes. And that my friend, is dedication on your part, at the very least. Permission to say if I may, you just complicated your free time bigly, If you in fact have any at all!
But thank you for this. I do learn a lot from commenters. Regards….

Shawn, thank you for bringing the comment section back. I understand why you hit the pause button and hope people will be civil and use comments wisely.
Taking the comment section away with no warning and no explanation whatsoever was like Coke coming out with new Coke. Head scratching. I’m glad you’ve re-thought it.
How long before DaReal and Doug will be back and trading barbs here?
That all depends completely and exclusively on Doug.
Thanks Shawn for giving all of us a second chance at commenting on your site. Hopefully we all will use our brains along with our fingers and keyboards! If that happens it might be a little easier for you to monitor it as well!
