NASCAR confirmed to RaceDayCT exclusively Wednesday that American Racer Tire will replace Hoosier Tires as the exclusive tire of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour for the 2026 season.
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour series director Gary Putnam alerted teams privately on Wednesday of the decision to make the change. As of Wednesday at 12:30 pm, NASCAR had not made any public announcement concerning the change.
NASCAR held a Whelen Modified Tour tire test with American Racer on Nov. 5 at Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, Pa. On Dec. 3 NASCAR held a second offseason tire test for American Racer tires at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Fla.
In a private bulletin sent to competitors Wednesday Putnam wrote: “We are excited to announce that American Racer is the official tire supplier of the 2026 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Considerations were made by many stakeholders in the NWMT community, including the teams and drivers who successfully completed verification tests to confirm product quality and consistency. We thank everyone for their contributions and want to pass along a few notes of interest:”
- 2026 tire pricing is $195 MSRP – 20% lower than 2025 NWMT tire pricing
- 2026 event award and year end point fund contributions have increased over 2025
- American Racer employs two factories capable of production
- American Racer boasts minimal production lead time for quick reaction to industry demands
- American Racer commits to factory track-side support at NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events.
“The ceiling is high with the possibilities of continued growth and prosperity on The Tour.“
Hoosier had been the exclusive tire provider for the Whelen Modified Tour since the 1999 season. Before 1999 Hoosier and Goodyear provided tires on the Whelen Modified Tour during what was known as the “Tire War Era”.
The 2026 Whelen Modified Tour kicks off on Feb. 7 at New Smyrna Speedway.
