Artificial intelligence platforms have in recent months become one of the more popular “rage bait” topics when it comes to their use by those involved in the short track racing industry.

It’s become commonplace to see many involved in short track racing using AI to create graphics, which are almost always mistake riddled and invariably mocked all over social media.

But what about letting AI offer a prediction for a certain event?

We went over to ChatGPT to see how well the platform can spit out some knowledge when it comes to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Icebreaker 150 at Thompson Speedway on April 12.

Seems like the they didn’t do too bad.

We asked: “Who do you think will be the winner of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Icebreaker 150 at Thompson Speedway on April 12, 2026?”

Below is the response we received.

If you’re looking for a smart, informed prediction rather than a random pick, the Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park usually rewards experience at the track + early-season momentum + clean execution. It’s notoriously tough to pass, and track position matters a lot.

My pick to win:

Ron Silk

  • He won the Icebreaker recently (2024), showing he knows how to manage this specific race and conditions.
  • He’s consistently one of the best at conserving tires and finishing races at Thompson.
  • When the Tour shows up here, he’s almost always a top contender regardless of starting spot.

Top challengers (very real threats)

  • Justin Bonsignore
The gold standard of the Tour—if he qualifies up front, he could absolutely dominate.
  • Patrick Emerling
Has already proven he can win at Thompson and tends to be aggressive early in the season.
  • Jon McKennedy
Another driver with strong Thompson history and qualifying speed.
  • Mike Christopher Jr.
Local knowledge + upside—if he hits setup, he’s dangerous.

Dark horse

  • Austin Beers
Young, aggressive, and improving fast—could steal one if strategy shakes out.

Bottom line

If I had to put money on it today:
👉 Ron Silk is the safest bet, especially given his Icebreaker track record.

But if qualifying goes Bonsignore’s way, he’s the one most likely to ruin that pick.

Not a bad forecast, all things considered.

But then we decided to take things a step further and get some of that fun rage bait stuff.

We asked ChatGPT to create an image at Thompson Speedway featuring all of the drivers mentioned it had mentioned in its forecast. What we got below was apparently a group of cloned drivers, none of which look anything like anyone mentioned.
