Obviously, I’m worried about the recent willingness of top teams to step away from the series over tire concerns. It gives the issue real weight. But it makes me wonder… which teams were involved in the tire tests over the off-season that gave NASCAR the confidence to make this switch? I know that 2 tires tests don’t really offer perfect insight, but NASCAR supposedly consulted with the teams on this. Did NASCAR screw up? Is American Racer struggling with material supply issues? Or is the fan buzz correct that certain teams are upset that they’ve lost their edge on a new tire? It’s hard to know what to think from just watching the races and not seeing tires explode like they do during a tire war.

When performance sucks, business is down, and the cost to compete goes up, let’s just deflect and blame it on the tires because everyone will believe it. AR is Specialty Tires of America, a US company. Hoosier is Continental AG, a German company. Don’t be a dumpkopf, buy American.
