(Press release from Thunder Road International Speedbowl)

After an outstanding start to the Thursday Night racing season, Thunder Road International Speedbowl is back in action this Thursday, June 11 with the help of Casella Waste Systems! An action-packed Thursday will feature the Maplefields/Irving Oil Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks plus the annual appearance of the New England Auto Racers to pull back the curtain on yesteryear at one of New England’s oldest racing facilities!
The New England Auto Racers (NEAR) bring nostalgia wherever they race from the open-wheeled coupes and modifieds of fifty years ago to the traveling Hall of Fame mobile-museum. The Thursday at Thunder Road and Saturday at White Mountain Motorsports Park doubleheader has annually kicked off their racing season, with stops also planned at Seekonk Speedway, Bear Ridge Speedway and Waterford Speedbowl among others.
After running under a bedsheet for over forty laps last week, Brandon Gray, Justin Prescott and Jason Corliss head the start of the King of the Road track championship standings in the Maplefields/Irving Oil Late Models. With Gray standing tall after taking the opening Thursday win, both Prescott and Corliss, along with hard-charging Bobby Therrien, are looking to take the Casella Night victory.
Fairfax’s Parker Gagne has had a career best start to his season, currently leading the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger standings after taking career win number one last time out. Veteran Brendan Moodie is lying in wait just six points behind with Derrick Calkins also in range. The action has been unpredictable in the Tiger ranks so far with Casella Night ready to turn up the wick.
Young-guns Connor Rueda and Hayden Bushey are separated by seven points atop the rk Miles Street Stock standings with sophomore Street Stocker Tyler Wheatley not too far behind. So far, the region’s top four-cylinder class has averaged thirty-six entries in the first two events leading to plenty of on-track fireworks in this early season stretch. It remains to be seen who will make it out on top of the Crunch Bunch action this Thursday while the annual Marvin Johnson Memorial race will be open to all non-winners looking to nab their first on the Barre highbanks!
The Nation’s Site of Excitement is back in action next Thursday, June 11 for Casella Waste Systems Night! The New England Auto Racers (NEAR) bring the antique racers out for a nostalgic look at yesteryear along with the Maplefields/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks on Thursday, June 11 with a 7:00pm Post Time. The Marvin Johnson Memorial First Time Winner’s Race is also on the schedule and it’s Scout Night Thursday, all Scouts in Uniform admitted free!
Grandstands open at 5:00pm with Adult General Admission set at $15, kids 6-12 are just $5 and children five and under are free! The Family Four Pack (two adults, two kids) are also available for $30.
