STAFFORD – Jeremy Lavoie arrived at Stafford Speedway Friday night with little to be disappointed about when it comes to the 2026 season.
The three-time Limited Late Model division had four top-fives in the first six events of the season and was sitting comfortably at the top of the division’s standings.
But there was that little something missing from the stats for 2026.
On Friday Lavoie checked off that missing statistic.
Lavoie held off a last corner charge from Travis Hydar coming to the checkered flag to win the Lu-Mac’s Package Store/WTD Logistics 30 Friday at Stafford.
It was the first victory of the 2026 season for Lavoie, of Windsor Locks.
“We circle this event on the calendar every year,” Lavoie said. “It’s a staple event for us, there’s always big money on the line, so I got to thank LuMac’s Package Store, WTD Logistics, for putting that up and making it possible for us.”
It was the 27th career Limited Late Model win at Stafford for Lavoie and his first since Sept. 26, 2025. Lavoie sits second on the division’s all-time list. Andrew Durand is the division’s all-time winningest driver with 33 victories.
Hydar’s last ditch effort to get under Lavoie in the final corner ended up with Hydar in the outside wall. Jason Layette of Somers got under Hydar to take second. Fourth place running Gary Patnode ended up with nowhere to go coming to the checkered flag and pushed Hydar across the line in third.
“I know the car was getting away from me, but I held on and I tried to make it hard for the [Hydar] to get by me,” Lavoie said. “I know he got into me, he’s trying to get by me. I think I saw him in the wall, so I feel bad for him, I know it’s hard racing, but I was just making it as difficult as possible for him to get by me.”
Said Hydar: “Drove down in there in three and the hole opened up. So I put it in there. Nothing too egregious, I’m sure he doesn’t think so either. And we touched tires and the tire exploded. I heard it go bang and the car hit the track and that was it. But whoever was behind me piled into me hard enough that I did cross the line in third. That’s not how I wanted to end the night”
Lafayette, who came into the night tied for second in the standings, took sole control of that position, but lost two points to Lavoie in the chase for the champion. Lavoie now leads Lafayette by 16 points.
“It’s always good to be on the podium, right?,” Lafayette said.
