THOMPSON – On May 14, 2025 Austin Goff celebrated his first career SK Light Modified victory at Thompson Speedway.
Wednesday the 17-year old from Stafford made it two at the historic .625-mile oval.
Goff controlled at the front of the field for the bulk of the race and drove away from the completion over the closing circuits to win the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature Wednesday at Thompson Speedway.
“It feels awesome,” Goff said. “I think this time is better than the first one because I had to work a lot harder for it. And then I was sick all day yesterday. … I was not feeling up to it. It was not my day yesterday, but this makes it a lot better.”
RJ Marcotte of Millville, Mass. was second and had his third podium in four starts this season.
“We had a great car,” Marcotte said. “I mean, I don’t think we had enough for [Goff]. We needed another restart or something. … And I can’t wait to come back here in August. … It’s all about being consistent. Every time you come home with a wrecked race car, you go backwards. So it’s all about finishing.”
Milania Shilosky of Colchester was third.
“I would say we had a really good night tonight,” Shilosky said. “We were really fast in practice and in the qualifying. So we had a really good car. We’ve made a few changes since the last time we ran here. So overall, super happy with the car. … The more we run here, I’m definitely getting more comfortable with the car and the track.”
Jarrod Soucy of Wales, Mass. held off a charging Ryan Lineham over the closing laps to win the 20-lap Street Stock feature.
“The heat race was a little bit tough, kind of fought my way through that, it was kind of a battle out there, we were all beating and banging,” Soucy said. “Feature time came and it was time to turn this car on and I think we got the lead a little bit before halfway and kind of hung on to it. “My spotter was telling me, I knew [Lineham] was there and I know he’s fast so I just had to run a good line and keep him behind me. That’s what I went on to do and we did it and we’re in victory lane so we’re happy.”
Lineham, of Warwick, R.I., was second and Michael Viens of Seekonk, Mass. was third.
“It was an awful day from when we unloaded,” Lineham said. “Nothing but problems today. We cracked the transmission, had a vibration, didn’t get practice, Decided to run it with a cracked transmission and a vibration. We didn’t know if it would stay together but it did. Lap one there was just a racing incident. I got turned and broke a shock. The left rear shock’s disconnected, but still managed to finish second. So I am happy for Jarrod. They were due for a win. It feels like a win to salvage second after the day we had.”
Said Viens: “Car was good all day. I’m still running the 602 Crate [Motor], which is kind of hard to keep up with a lot of these guys, but just had luck on my side today and the car was driving really well. I had a lot of fun racing and I’m just glad to get on the podium. You know, a little surprised. It’s unfortunate we don’t have more cars here. You know, it’s kind of why I’m coming. I’m trying to support the division and, you know, get people to come.”
Matt Lowinski-Loh of Thompson topped the 25-lap Late Model feature. Travis Hydar of Woodbury was second and Jared Roy of Sterling third.
Jeffrey Battle of Westford, Mass. won the 40-lap New England SuperModified Series feature. PJ Stergios of Candia, N.H. was second and Dan Bowes of Byfield, Mass. was third.
Jack Emerson of Columbia topped the 20-lap Crown Vic feature.
