George Bessette Wins In Granite State Pro Stock Series Thompson Speedway Debut

THOMPSON – George Bessette took the lead from Mike O’Sullivan on a restart with eight laps remaining and never looked back in winning the 50-lap Granite State Pro Stock Series feature Sunday at Thompson International Speedway.

It was the first event at Thompson for the second year series and first series victory for Bessette, of Danbury.

O’Sullivan, of Springfield, Mass. held on for second. Glenn Tyler Hampton Bays, N.Y.

Bessette and O’Sullivan were both regulars in the old Super Late Model division at Thompson.

“We really needed this,” Bessette said. “For all the fans that come here weekly, they’ve seen me win a lot of races. But for the last two or three years since they’ve seen me really look like a bag of whatever. We worked really hard on this car.”

Said: O’Sullivan: “Even if the caution didn’t come out he was probably going to get to me. We were just too free. We battled that all weekend and just couldn’t keep the rear tires under the car. No big deal, second is a good run.”
