WATERFORD – Keith Rocco started his 2013 season at the Waterford Speedbowl with a victory in Saturday’s 25-lap NEMA Lite feature.
Sunday it was confirmed that he would instead start the season with a disqualification.
Rocco, of Wallingford, was disqualified from the victory, giving the win to second place finisher Randy Cabral of Plymouth, Mass.
A NEMA official said Rocco was disqualified for illegal fuel and his car being underweight.
Rocco said the fuel issue involved a contaminated fuel cell. He didn’t address the weight issue.
“It doesn’t pay to win and pretty much everybody knows I won, so what does it matter,” Rocco said.
