WATERFORD – On July 20 Glenn Griswold left the Waterford with a destroyed SK Light Modified and the thought that his racing season was over.

New Speedbowl LogoSaturday Griswold made the most triumphant of returns to the track.

Griswold, of Vernon, returned with a new car, a fired up attitude, and ran away with victory in the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature Saturday at Waterford.

It was the second victory of the season at Waterford for Griswold.

“We bought a great race car from Jeff Pearl,” Griswold said. “… We came back here tonight after getting destroyed and showed them what we’re all about. We weren’t going to quit and they’re not going to take us down by wrecking us.”

Randy Churchill Jr. of Oakdale was second and Larry Goss of North Windham third.

In the 25-lap Mini Stock feature, Ray Christian III of Groton went by Joe Liskiewicz for the lead at the start and never trailed again on the way to victory.

“It’s pretty huge,” Christian said. “We’ve been fighting motor issues for the last two months. We’re still pretty underpowered, but the chassis is so good in that car, we’ve got the thing handling so good, I can get in three or four cars deeper than everybody and that’s how I got [Joe Liskiewicz]. I just never lifted [getting into the corner] and I just drove right by him.”

Garrett Denton of Hope Valley, R.I. was second and Ken Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon third.

Dave Farrington Jr. of Jay, Me. won the 30-lap Late Model feature. Keith Rocco of Wallingford was second and Rich Staskowski of Hope Valley, R.I. third.
