The momentum of 2013 carried over to the new season in perfect fashion for Daniel Suarez Sunday in New Smyrna, Fla.
The Monterrey, Mexico driver opened the 2014 K&N Pro Series East season by winning the New Smyrna 150 at New Smyrna Speedway.
It was the second career series victory for Suarez, who closed out the 2013 season five podium finishes in the last seven events.
Suarez held off Cameron Hayley Edmonton, Alberta in a door-to-door battle to the checkered flag. Brandon Jones of Atlanta was third.
David Garbo Jr. of North Stonington was 16th and Scott Heckert of Ridgefield 21st.
