THOMPSON – The opening weekend of short track racing in Connecticut equaled a perfect weekend of competition for the combination of Keith Rocco and his Late Model team owner Scott Fearn.

Rocco came from last in the field to win the 25-lap Late Model feature to open Icebreaker 2014 Sunday competition at Thompson Speedway.

Glenn Boss of Danielson was second and Chris Curtis of Rutland, Mass. third.

The victory followed up a win for Rocco and Fearn in the season opening Late Model feature Saturday night at the Waterford Speedbowl.

“This car that Scott Fearn prepared for me is absolutely awesome,” Rocco said. “I’ve got to thank Scott Fearn and Crazy Horse Racing, they give me one heck of a car.”

Rocco started last in the 17-car Late Model feature. After multiple wrecks in two attempts to start the event, he was up to fourth on the third try at getting an initial green flag lap run. On the third restart Rocco blasted to the lead and never trailed again.

“We came from Waterford last night off a win, starting last there [too],” Rocco said. “We ran the same set of tires. I didn’t think these tires are going to hold up. These American Racers are pretty damn good.”
