Lesson Learned: Jay Stuart Wins Late Model Feature At NAPA Spring Sizzler At Stafford

STAFFORD – School was back in session Sunday for the “The Professor” at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Jay Stuart of Preston drove away from Adam Gray on a green-white-checkered restart to win the 30-lap Late Model feature

“My car was great,” Stuart said. “Awesome engine. My wife, if it wasn’t for her, I couldn’t get this done. She’s like two crew members.”

Gray, of Belchertown, Mass. held on for second in his first event defending his 2013 division championship.

Jim Mavlouganes of Bethany was third in the caution marred event.

The final caution of the race came out lap 29. On the ensuing restart, Gray looked briefly like he might challenge for victory, but Stuart had all he needed over the final mile.

“Considering what the weekend has brought and what we’ve got now, I can’t thank my crew enough,” Gray said.
