Blastoff Weekend Waterford New 300Remember that cold and dreary forecast a couple weeks ago? Forget about it.

And don’t even listen to any weathermen this week.

Warm and sunny is what it’s going to be all about when the cars hit the track Saturday for the running of the Budweiser Blastoff weekend at the Waterford Speedbowl. The event was originally scheduled for March 29-30 but was postponed because of weather issues.

It might not be the season opener any more for the 2014 at the Speedbowl, but it’s still huge nonetheless with the Modified Racing Series season opener highlighting a massive card of features over two days at the shoreline oval.

Check out below for more information on this weekend’s event.

  1. too bad there is no where for people to sit. can not believe they have 75% of the grandstands closed. great way to open

  2. Is there going to be a place to sit? One section open doesn’t give moms with small children a safe place to sit. Afraid they will fall thru if go up high and bottom toe was full last sat with just weekly divisions.

  3. So you were there last week and know they weren’t fixed? Or is this an assumption…

  4. Justafan says

I was there. 75% of the grandstands are closed off. Only a very small section behind the flagstand is open

  5. Stands are being worked on. Hopefully more will be open this weekend.

  6. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing repairs to the grandstands. These repairs were supposed to be completed last season by a contractor who failed to perform as agreed. We have taken the management of the project over and much work was accomplished just as soon as the weather warmed up enough to be able to move earth. Many devoted fans and competitors have, and are continuing to, help with the work. We are humbled by their support.

In actuality, approximately 40% of the total seating area was available for last week’s event. This week’s work will result in 55% of the seats being open. The lower six rows of seats in both the turn one and turn four ends of the grandstand will be reopened for this weekend’s Bud Blast Off. Work will continue through the month of April. We expect the entire grandstand to be open by Saturday, May 3rd.

We appreciate the patience shown by the Speedbowl’s dedicated fans.
