Rowan Pennink passed Justin Bonsignore for the lead on lap 71 and never trailed again on the way to victory in the Modified Racing Series Spring Dash 100 Saturday at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H.

Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, Pa. also won the event last year on the way to his first series championship.

Bonsignore, of Holtsville, N.Y. was second and Steve Masse of Bellingham, Mass. third.

According to The Chrome Horn, Pennink and Bonsignore battled near the front of the field for most of the event.

Pennink started on the pole and Bonsignore started seventh in the field.

Bonsignore was up to second three laps into the event.

Chris Pasteryak of Lisbon, runner-up in the season opening event at the Waterford Speedbowl on April 13 was fourth.

Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield, third in the season opener at Waterford, was fifth at Monadnock. Szegedy spent a good portion of the event racing in the top three.

Twenty-five cars started the event. The Modified Racing Series is next in action on May 4 at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway.
