THOMPSON – Shawn Monahan made his return weekend to the Limited Sportsman division at Thompson Speedway one to remember.

The Waterford driver won Sunday’s 20-lap Limited Sportsman feature Sunday at Thompson to sweep the two events for the division over the weekend.

On Saturday evening Monahan won the 27-lap Limited Sportsman segment event.

“I’ve really got to thank Ed Puleo for loaning me his car,” Monahan said. “Who does that kind of stuff? He won his Street Stock race at [the Waterford Speedbowl] last night and the [SK] Modified race. And two-for-two as a car owner here this weekend with [Vin Beedle] and Mr. Rooter.”

Monahan held off the charges of Scott Sundeen over multiple restarts before pulling away over the closing laps.

Sundeen, of Douglas, Mass., was second and Kevin Mason of West Warwick, R.I. third.

“Towards the end of the race, it was lights out,” Monahan said. “It was a good weekend for the Mr. Rooter team in general.”
