THOMPSON – Shawn Monahan made his return to the Limited Sportsman division at Thompson Speedway Saturday one to remember.

Monahan, of Waterford, rolled to victory in the Limited Sportsman segment event at Thompson.

The event featured a nine-lap first segment, eight-lap second segment and 10-lap third segment. Drivers are awarded points coinciding with their finishing position for each segment. The driver with the lowest amount of points after all three segments was declared the winner.

Monahan finished third in the first two segments and won the third segment for a race low seven points.

“I didn’t think we were going to make it here this weekend,” Monahan said. “… This is awesome. Sundeen gave me a run for my money. I thought we were going to have to get nasty. We’ll save that for tomorrow.”

Roger Turbush of Riverhead, N.Y. won the 20-lap New England Truck Series event.

Steve Michalski of Brooklyn was triumphant in the Mini Stock segment race. John Studley of Framingham, Mass. won the 15-lap SK Light Modified feature.
