WATERFORD – The reigning Legends division King of the Hill got his crown ripped away Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Dylan Izzo used a pass for the lead on a restart with nine laps remaining to go by Mike Christoher Jr. and win the 25-lap Legends feature at Waterford Saturday.

It was the third victory of the season for Izzo, of Westport, and it snapped Christopher’s four-race Legends division winning streak.

Christopher, of Wolcott, was second and Joey Ternullo of Middletown third.

Christopher went by Kyle Rogers for the lead with 11 laps left and looked on cruise control to another win before the caution flewo with nine laps left.

On the ensuing restart, Izzo made the move that gave him the victory.

“I knew when he was going to start it because he trail-braked it,” Izzo said. “I was just able to get through the gears a lot better. I stuck my nose under because he slipped up and I was able to get by him and I never looked back. He gave me a few runs, especially coming off the corners, and that shot coming to the checkered that I was expecting because everybody does it.”

Said Christopher: “It’s just unfortunate that we lost, but it’s going to be a great season between me and Izzo. I just can’t wait for next week to see what happens. This race was crazy. It was up, down, loose, left, right, lots of wrecking. That restart, I just missed it. I’m just bad on restarts I guess.”
