Stafford Notes: Cliff Saunders Grabs Limited Late Model Victory; David Comeau Scores DARE Stock Win

SMS-LOGO-HOME-PAGE-2012STAFFORD – It’s said that practice makes perfect.

For Cliff Saunders, practice made him upset Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

But Saunders was able to bounce back from the struggles of practice Friday and win the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature Friday at Stafford.

“I really didn’t think I was going to win tonight,” Saunders said. “Especially after practice, the car was a little bit off. If you were to tell me that I was going to win tonight I would have said there was no way. … The car was just awesome.”

Duane Provost of Springfield, Mass. was second and Norm Sears of Andover third.

Saunders went by Justin Brien for the lead on lap 14 and never trailed again.

In the 15-lap DARE Stock feature, David Comeau of Palmer, Mass. held off the charges of Frank L’Etoile Jr. of Wethersfield over the closing laps for his first career victory.

Bill McNeil of Preston was third.
