Woody Pitkat will have a full evening scheduled when the gates reopen for racing at Thompson Speedway on May 29.

The Stafford driver is currently leading the SK Modified event that was stopped after 13 laps Thursday and will be restarted that night. He also has the regularly scheduled 30-lap SK Modified event to run that night too.

And now he’ll be jumping behind the wheel of a Valenti Modified Racing Series ride that evening too.

Pitkat confirmed that he has agreed to run for team owner Gary Alender of Bristol in select Valenti Modified Racing Series events for the remainder of the 2014 season.

Alender has been fielding a car part-time on the series for the past few years. Last year Stafford Motor Speedway SK Modified division regular Danny Cates of Chaplin raced part-time for the team.

Pitkat will make his first start in the car on May 29 in the first Valenti Modified Racing Series event of the season at Thompson.

“The plan is to go to Thompson and race and see how it goes,” Pitkat said. “They want to work on getting better and see how the car is. And then I know they want to go to Stafford [Motor Speedway] and they’ve got a new motor that they’re going to have ready for Stafford. So all we’ve really talked about right now is doing the Thompson and Stafford races and maybe races at Waterford.”

In addition to the May 29 show, the Valenti Modified Racing Series also competes at Thompson on Oct. 18. The division visits Stafford June 20, July 18 and Aug. 29. Waterford has series events remaining on Aug. 9 and Oct. 5.

Pitkat competes full-time on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and also in the SK Modified divisions at Thompson and Stafford.

“I just figure being at the track already I might as well try it,” Pitkat said. “It’s more seat time, there’s nothing wrong with that.”
