STAFFORD – Joey Ferrigno went by teammate Paul French on lap 17 and then cruised to victory in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature.

It was the first victory of the season for Ferrigno, of East Hartford.

Bob Charland of Stafford was second and French, of Andover, third.

“It was awesome out there tonight,” Ferrigno said. “The [Whelen Modified Tour] rubber made the car a little bit funky, but nothing I couldn’t handle. This thing was awesome. My guys do so much work on this.”

It was the third career victory in the division for Ferrigno and his first win since June 21 of last year. Ferrigno said the wait of nearly a year for the victory was getting frustrating.

“I knew the car could do it,” Ferrigno said. “We put the work into it, the car was fast enough. We just got caught up in dumb [stuff] every week. It hasn’t done justice for how fast the car is every week. Tonight, starting deep and passing the cars one at a time and earning it, that’s the way that car deserves to win, showing what it’s got.”

It was the first career podium finish at Stafford for French.

It was a more exciting race then the Tour race…………Didn’t like the fact that Charland turned the #12 car between turns 1 and 2…That was very cheap, that same bs move helped take McDermitt out of the race……..It was good to see the #12 running strong until that jack a– move by the #1……
Hey Thompson management…FYI, there were 19 cars in the field, very entertaining race for the fans who stayed in their seats and didn’t go to the rest room or concession stand before the SK race…..Nice job Stafford, you are a “real” deal to the NASCAR racers and fans…..
