WATERFORD – On June 7, Ryan Waterman used a last lap bump-and-run of Josh Galvin to go to victory and in the process, snap the dominating ways of Josh Galvin in the Street Stock division at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Waterman’s move snapped a four-race winning streak for Galvin. Saturday Galvin went right back to the place he’s become all too familiar with.

Galvin held off a charging Al Stone III over the final three laps to win the 25-lap Street Stock feature Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

“We wanted it bad,” Galvin said. “Everybody wants to win just as bad, that’s why we’re here. Everybody shows up here to win. We work hard. We do a lot of reading and a lot of working on the car. We fixed it up this week. My father put a lot of work in. We had multiple mechanical problems last week and we zeroed in on every one of them and straightened them all out.”

It was the sixth win in nine Street Stock events this year at Waterford for Galvin, of Franklin.

Stone, of Durham, was second and Monte Gibbs of Killingworth third.

“Josh was really good on the restarts,” Stone said “They’re really good, they’ve come a long way. They’re definitely a top-notch team, they’re always one step ahead. We’re just going to keep working at it. Congrats to them, they deserve it.”

Galvin used a three-wide move with Steve Barrett and Norm Root Jr. to go the lead with 15 laps remaining.

“I saw an opportunity there and I took it,” Galvin said. “Three-wide is kind of dangerous, it’s always a risk. But I decided to take it. You don’t have much time to think.”

  1. I guess Josh learned not to let his guard down going into 3 on the last lap haha! Nice win by Josh. One of the best races I have seen him run all year.

One thing to note… The 55 is very fast. The driver is still very wild and young. Once that kid learns how to be smoother and not run into everyone every corner, he is going to be VERY VERY good! Monte is almost there and will not be surprised to see it finally click for him this year and see him in Victory Lane very soon!
