Monk Cleaned Up Award 286In the battle of NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour veteran vs. Legends division upstart, it was the Modified Tour vet coming out on top.

In feisty voting battle that went down to the wire, Ryan Preece came out on top of Mike Christopher Jr. this week in the race for the Monk Mechanics Hand Cleaners “Cleaned Up Award for May at RaceDayCT.

Preece’s record in May saw him win in his only SK Modified appearances at Stafford Speedway and Thompson Speedway and he also had a runner-up finish in the inaugural Bullring Bash 100 at Lee US Speedway in Lee, N.H.

Christopher was nearly unstoppable in his Legends car at the Waterford Speedbowl during May, but the teenager didn’t have enough to knock off the reigning Whelen Modified Tour champion in the voting.

Preece ended garnring 34 percent of the votes for the award. Christopher pulled in 31 percent. Josh Galvin, who won four Street Stock events at the Waterford Speedbowl in May, was a distant third in the voting.
