It wasn’t much of a battle coming to the checkered flag Thursday for Shawn Monahan in his victory in the Limited Sportsman feature at Thompson Speedway.
But his victory in this week’s New England Racing Fuel Support Performer of the Week competition was as close as any race could get.
Monahan grabbed this week’s New England Racing Support Performer of the Week Award by a single vote over Waterford Speedbowl Mini Stock division driver Ken Cassidy Jr.
Monahan earned 32.4 percent of the votes, with Cassidy earning 31.5 percent.
Each week during the 2014 racing season the New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Support Performer of the Week will be chosen from among drivers competing in events in one of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly support divisions (excludes SK Modified divisions) at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson Speedway and the Waterford Speedbowl.
Monahan will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel. The final voting results are listed below.
