Another race, another winner on the Valenti Modified Racing Series in 2014.

Steve Masse put on a dominating performance in rolling to victory in the 100-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series feature Saturday at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway.

It was the first victory of the season for Masse, of Bellingham, Mass.

Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y. was second and Norm Wrenn of Nashua, N.H. third.

Masse became the fifth different winner in five Valenti Modified Racing Series events this year. Other winners this season in series events include reigning series champion Rowan Pennink, Keith Rocco, Tommy Barrett Jr. and Richard Savary.

It was Masse’s first win since Aug. 30, 2013 at Stafford Motor Speedway and his eighth career series victory overall, which gave him sole possession of fifth place on the series’ all-time win list. He had been tied for the spot with Dwight Jarvis and Lou Mechalides.

Masse started second and went the lead past Anthony Nocella in the opening laps and never trailed again.

Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield, who came into event as the points leader, was sixth.

Pennink, who came into the event three points behind Szegedy in second in the standings, was involved in an incident late in the race and finished 16th. Chris Pasteryak of Lisbon, who came into the event third in points, 19 behind Szegedy, was seventh. The Valenti Modified Racing Series did not announce an official update to the point standings Saturday evening.
