From the Nutmeg State to the Granite State the racing will have the feel of July heat this weekend.

Stafford Motor Speedway host its special Girls Night Out/Firefighter Appreciation night Friday.

Ladies, and firefighters showing identification, will be admitted for $10 Friday night at Stafford.

Also this weekend, the Waterford Speedbowl will be dark Saturday, but the shoreline oval will host the Little Guys 200 on Friday evening.

And up north in Loudon, N.H., the New Hampshire Motor Speedway comes to life with a packed schedule of action for its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Camping World RV Sales 301 weekend.

What: NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event

Where: Stafford Motor Speedway

When: Friday

Schedule: 42-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified, 32-lap Late Model, 22-lap SK Light Modified, 22-lap Limited Late Model, 22-lap Legends and 17-lap DARE Stock. Grandstands open: 5:15 p.m.; Qualifying: 6 p.m. Features: Immediately following qualifying.
More: The seventh event of the season at Stafford Motor Speedway. … The Fourth of July racing card at Stafford was rained out. … In the last event at the track, Ted Christopher held off Ryan Preece in a spirited battle at the front to record his 101st career SK Modified victory at Stafford. … Preece won the first three SK Modified events of the season at Stafford. Rookie Chase Dowling is the only other winner in the division this season. … Preece holds a 22-point lead over second place Christopher in the division’s standings. Keith Rocco is third in the standings, 36 points behind. The non-points, invitational event exhibition event will be a 40-lap race. … The Whelen Modified Tour returns to the track Saturday for the running of the Sunoco 100. The Sunoco 100 is the sixth of 14 Whelen Modified Tour events this year and the first of two this season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The division returns to Loudon in Sept. 20. … Milford’s Doug Coby won last year’s Sunoco 100. … Coby, the 2012 series champion, goes into the event holding the series points lead. Bobby Santos III is second in the standings, seven points behind Coby. … Ryan Preece, the 2013 series champion, will do double duty on Friday and Saturday. Preece, of Berlin, will compete in Friday’s Whelen All-Star Shootout on Friday and then head to Stafford Motor Speedway to run in the SK Modified feature. Preece is the SK Modified division points leader at Stafford. On Saturday Preece will run the Whelen Modified Tour Sunoco 100 and also attempt to qualify for the Nationwide Series Sta-Green 200 driving an entry from Sprint Cup team owner Tommy Baldwin Jr. Preece made his only previous Nationwide Series start last year at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, running a Baldwin owned car.
