Yankee Racer reported Wednesday that veteran NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Chuck Hossfeld will be in competition with the division next week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

According to Yankee Racer, the Ransomville, N.Y. driver will compete in a backup car from Chris Our Motorsports.

Chris Our Motorsports fields a car full-time for series rookie Tommy Barrett Jr. of Millis, Mass. Hossfeld will drive a No. 21 Chris Our Motorsports entry.

Hossfeld has seven career Whelen Modified Tour victories in 138 series starts dating back to 1999. Three of his seven career victories came at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

He last drove full-time with the series in 2010 and his last victory came in 2008 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where has 16 career starts and has recorded an average finish of 10.4.

Hossfeld is expected to compete in both the Whelen All-Star Shootout exhibition event on July 11 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the Sunoco 100 points event on July 12.

“I know he’s some excited to drive [crew chief Brad Lafontaine’s] car and the way we do it and how fast we are,” Chris Our told Yankee Racer. “He can’t wait to get in it. … I like Chuck. He’s a very good guy, a very good driver and he wasn’t running much on the tour this year so we called him up and said ‘Hey do you want to drive the shootout and the other race?’ and he said he’d love to.
