STAFFORD – Stafford Motor Speedway Late Model division driver Jay Stuart goes by the moniker of “The Professor”.

Friday he taught the division’s field a lesson in domination.

Stuart cruised away from the field easily to win the 30-lap Late Model feature Friday at Stafford.

It was the second victory in seven events this year for Stuart, of Preston, who has been the picture of consistency all season at Stafford.

Kevin Gambacorta of Ellington was second and Jim Peterson of Monson, Mass. third.

Stuart, the division’s points leader, has been on the podium in six events this year. In the only feature he didn’t finish in the top-three he was fourth. He now has two wins, two seconds, two thirds and the fourth.

But it took Stuart teaching himself his own lesson about not changing what’s working to get him back to victory lane.

“I have a very old fashioned set up in it,” said Stuart, who finished third on July 11. “Maybe it’s not the fastest car, but its right in there in top-three. Last week I had this setup in there and took it out right before the feature. Dumb move. This week, I said I’m leaving it. The car was on rails and hooked up excellent.”

Stuart went by Josh Wood for the lead on a lap nine restart and went unchallenged the rest of the way.

“I think the guy that built my car was the one that beat me,” Gambacorta said. “He kind of knows what I’ve got.”
