WATERFORD – The hottest driver in the month of June at the Waterford Speedbowl is keeping the heat on so far in July.
Mike Christopher Jr. won five of his six Legends division starts at Waterford in June.
Saturday he made it two-for-two in July.
Christopher went past Dylan Izzo for the lead with four laps remaining and led the rest of the way to win the 25-lap Legends feature.
It was his 11th victory overall in Legends features this year at Waterford. He also won Wednesday at Waterford.
“It’s great winning, I love this,” Christopher said. “I’d rather win than lose.”
Izzo, of Westport, was second and Brendon Bock of Franklin Square, N.Y. third.
In the 50-lap Late Model feature it was Bruce Thomas Jr. of Groton going by Keith Rocco for the lead with seven laps remaining and holding on for victory.
Rocco, of Wallingford, was second. Marc Curtis Jr. of Worcester, Mass. was third.
In the 50-lap Mini Stock feature it was Garrett Denton of Hope Valley, R.I. topping the field. It was the second consecutive victory for Denton and third win overall in 2014.
Charles Canfield of New Haven was second and Ray Christian III of Groton third.
