It’s another busy week of racing in Connecticut with all three NASCAR Whelen All-American Series short tracks in action.
Thompson Speedway is back in action Wednesday with the return of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour to the track for the Budweiser 150. The rain date for the event is Thursday.
Stafford Motor Speedway, which hosted the Whelen Modified Tour last Friday, returns to a regular Whelen All-American Series weekly card with six division in action.
Waterford will also see six divisions in action with the New England Truck Series joining the card for the night.

What: NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and Whelen All-American Series event

More: The fifth event of the season at Thompson and the fourth of five weekly events in 2014. … The second of three Whelen Modified Tour events at Thompson Speedway in 2014 and the sixth of eight events at state short tracks this season. … The Modified Tour is coming off a race on Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway that saw Woody Pitkat win his first career series event. … Justin Bonsignore won in the series’ season opener in April at Thompson Speedway. The series returns to Thompson to close its season in October. … Doug Coby goes into the event holding an eight-point lead over second place Bonsignore in the series standings after eight events this season. … Bonsignore has two victories this year, Coby has one. Bobby Santos III has a series leading three victories. Eric Goodale is the only other winner this year. … The rain date for the event is Thursday. … In the track’s last event on July 30, Keith Rocco and Ryan Preece had wins in twin 20-lap SK Modified features with Preece also winning a 10-lap shootout event, which did not count as a feature. Preece has won three of the five SK Modified features at the track this year. Rocco has two victories. … Preece holds a 20-point lead over Rocco in division standings. Todd Ceravolo is 30 points behind in third place. … Jeff Smith won his first career event in the Late Model division at Thompson on July 30. … Glen Boss and Rocco are the other Late Model division winners this year. … Boss leads the Late Model standings by 38 points over second place Rick Gentes. John Lowinski-Loh is third in the standings, 40 points behind the lead. … Corey Hutchings got his second victory of the season in the Limited Sportsman division in the last event at Thompson. … Shawn Monahan has won three of the five events run in the division this season. … Scott Sundeen leads the Limited Late Model division point standings by 12 over Monahan. Preece has won five of 10 SK Modified features at Stafford this year. Other winners this year include Rowan Pennink (two), Ted Christopher and rookies Chase Dowling and Ronnie Williams. … Christopher leads the SK Modified division standings by two points over Preece. More: The 18th event of the season at the shoreline oval. … Last week, Jeffrey Gallup was declared the winner of the SK Modified feature. Keith Rocco took the checkered flag but was penalized for spinning Shawn Monahan out of the lead on the last lap. It was the first career SK Modified feature win for Gallup. … Rocco has won nine of 17 SK Modified features this year at Waterford. … Other SK Modified division winners this year include Ed Puleo (twice), Kyle James (twice), Tyler Chadwick, Joey Gada and Craig Lutz. … Rocco has a 198-point advantage over second place Lutz in the SK Modified division standings at Waterford. Ed Puleo is third in the standings, 219 points off the lead. … Rocco got his ninth victory of the season in the track’s Late Model last Late Model division event on July 26. The Late Model divison was off last week. Bruce Thomas Jr. (three wins), Vin Esposito (two wins) and Jason Palmer (two wins) are the division’s other winners this year. … Rocco leads Thomas by 64 points in the standings.
