STAFFORD – After winning the inaugural NAPA Auto Parts SK 5K 100 on July 25 Rowan Peninnk and his SK Modified team celebrated just finishing the race as much winning it.

Before the victory last week Pennink had not finished in the top-10 over his first five starts of the season.

Friday Pennink showed having a fast car was no fluke.

Pennink checked out from the field late to win for the second consecutive week in the 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature Friday at Stafford.

“Just like last week, I couldn’t ask for a better car,” Pennink said. “[Crew chief] Jimmy Fuller and [car owners Bob Hitchcock and Kelly Iverson] prepared another awesome car to be able to come from 14th and win like that again this weekend. Everyone on this whole race team, amazing job, two in a row, I am so proud of this team.”

Ryan Preece of Berlin was second and Keith Rocco of Wallingford third.

Pennink methodicall diced his way through the field over the opening laps and went by Dan Avery for the lead on lap 17. Pennink was forced to fend off advances from Preece on lap 19 and lap 25, but then pulled away from Preece over the final 10 laps.

“You learn something new each week,” Pennink said. “Like I said last week, this car has been a top notch car every week, we just haven’t been able to show it with the luck we had. It’s finally starting to show through now.”
