WATERFORD – When it comes to Legends racing in Connecticut this season it has been all about Mike Christopher Jr.

And Saturday the Wolcott driver got to add a special distinction to the list of amazing accomplishments for him this year.

Christopher capped a perfect week behind the wheel by winning the 20-lap Legends feature at Waterford Saturday.

It was the third victory in four days for Christopher, who swept all three events he ran this week. It marked the first three-race week sweep of 2014 for Christopher, who also won at Waterford Wednesday and Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday.

“I just thought about it when I was in [victory lane],” Christopher said. “I didn’t think about it before like ‘I gotta sweep it like Kyle Busch at Bristol’”.

Joey Ternullo of Middletown was second and Timoth DePizzol of North Franklin third.

Christopher held off a charging Ternullo over the closing laps for his 20th Legends victory of the season at Waterford.

Christopher is now fully in record chasing realm at Waterford. The record Legends win in a season is 22 set by Jason Palmer in 2009. The record for wins in a season overall at Waterford is 24 set by Keith Rocco in 2013. Rocco, who competes in the SK Modified and Late Model divisions at Waterford has 21 victories this season.

“There’s too many numbers,” Christopher said. “We’re just trying to win all the races that we can right now. When it comes down to records I guess, if we beat it we beat it.

  2. 6 car feature? Pathetic

  3. Shawn, I am curious if you have had any conversations, with the Christopher’s, on what the plan is for next year for Mike Jr.? Seems like an SK Lite is probably his next step.

  4. Paul,
I don’t think things are set in stone yet, but I know there’s a desire to run full-time in an SK Modified in 2015 at Stafford.
